A Life in Your Hands
by BuriedTreasure
The price of a pet
is a tangible thing
and you're buying a life
more than anything.
Kids, at Easter,
want bunnies and chicks,
but soon lose interest
when they get sick.
Kittens chase strings
and we laugh at that,
some will lose interest
when they're lazy and fat
Puppies are precious
in so many ways,
but dogs are in shelters
and S.P.C.A.'s
Be it gerbil or hamster
canary or snake,
they all have a life
and a home you must make.
So, before you go shopping
to bring home a pet,
it's a life in your hands--
