FRODOFAN's Poetry Collection
Poems are arranged in alphabetical order.

In this collection, there are poems ranging from some of my first writings to some of my latest, some several years old, some recent. Hopefully you won't be too disappointed as many of the first ones I wrote do not really utilize any meter. The later ones are, however, much better in rhythm and flow.

A Hobbit's Tale
He found the ring in Gollum's cave.
Dwarves thought he was small but found out he was brave.
He faced the great dragon on the lonely mountain.
Though he's just a hobbit he'd do it again.
Scraped like butter over to much bread,
Bilbo grew old, he felt it, he said.
The ring kept him alive till he was eleventy one.
Then he left the Shire, his time there was done.
He left the ring to his nephew, along with Bag End.
So Frodo had to take it, along with his friend.
They had to travel, they had to run.
The quest to Mordor had finally begun.

Arwen's path
"I choose a mortal life." she says,
giving up so much for him.
One of the fairest of all elves, she follows
fair Lúthien.
But Lord Elrond, he father, wants her to
sail away.
He wants her to leave this Earth and go to
the Havens, grey.
Yet she bound herself to Aragorn, and to
that she owes.
She'll stay to that forever, for that's the
path she chose.

NEW> Arwen's Sacrifice <NEW
Is there a greater way to show your love
Then to relinquish life for your loves sake?

Arwen yéni ú-nót-imë vanwa
An Aragorn vanimelda.

She plighted she would cleave to him
And marry him to mortal wake.

"Ú i vethed, nâ i onnad!
Mornië alantië, suilann-galad!"

Jan 7 '08

Notes:

Translation of Quenya Lines:

Arwen yéni ú-nót-imë vanwa
Arwen gave years not countable
An Aragorn vanimelda.
For Aragorn her fair-love.

Translations for Sindarin Lines:

Ú i vethed, nâ i onnad!
This is not the end, it is the beginning!
Mornië alantië, suilann-galad!
Darkenss has fallen, welcome the light!

Bilbo
The road goes ever on and on.
He left the Shire and with that was gone.
Leaving all of Bag End behind.
He went and lived with the Elven kind.
There he grew older and wrote his tale.
Until the time came when he would sail.

Brogo Tells A Tale
Hello there, I'm a hobbit, fun-loving and sweet.
I've got dark curls in my hair and hairy little feet.
My name is Brogo Sicklefoot and I have a tale to tell
A tale that was scary but in the end turned out quite well.
Here in the Shire, Hobbiton to be exact,
There was a grand ole party, for Bilbo in fact.
It was the start of all the strange commotion.
Bilbo disappeared that night. Magic! What a notion.
It was just some sort of trick, yeah that's what we said.
Bilbo, you see, was a little cooky in the head.
He'd left the shire before with the strangest company,
A wizard and some dwarves. Oh it was a sight to see.
But that was long ago, this story's more about Frodo.
He was Bilbo's nephew he was left Bag End and so
He also got the ring, a ring of power they say,
That Frodo had to take far far far away.
To some Mt. Doom or like it, to save all Middle-earth.
I guess it makes a good tale though, for what it's worth.
Anyway he and his gardener, who was Hamfast's son
Went on this great quest to destroy "The One."
They did it in the end, after meeting elves and such
But when they returned, no one liked that Frodo much.
He was kind of awkward, seemed so full of pain.
In the end he sailed away (they say) not to return again.
Well that's my little tale. I best be on my way.
I've got guests tonight and lots of food to eat today.

Elrond, Lord of Rivendell
Elrond, Lord of Rivendell you foresee her life.
I know you don't want to loose her. I know you go through much strife.
But, you know there is still hope, she will bear a son.
You know she will be happy, even when she lingers on.

The Ent
You are an ent of the forest, Fanghorn.
You search for your ent wives, cause from them you were torn.
You over threw Saruman with Merry and Pippin.
You took over Isengard. You truly did win.

Eowyn of Rohan
Eowyn of Rohan had no fears.
Only of a cage and long lonely years.
She fought a great battle and protected her King.
She smited the Nazgul, stopped the evil they'd bring.
She was wounded and went to the houses of healing.
There she met Faramir and their love was sealing

The Evenstar
The light of the Evenstar is fading.
All the life of the Eldar is sailing.
Arwen's life is bound to the fate of the ring.
For she bound herself to Aragorn, Gondor's true King.

The Evil of Sauron will Fall
The eye of the enemy is moving. The danger is now near.
From him you can not hide. You must live in fear.
His Nazgûl search, they want it, they want the precious thing.
But you can't let them find it. You must destroy the ring!
From Orcs and Trolls you must hide and from the Urukai.
Because if they should find you, you would surely die.
But still go on and do not stop because there's still a way.
The evil of Sauron will fall. It will dawn a new day.

The Fate of Middle-earth
Though you're just a little hobbit you must make it past the eye.
You must journey on, remember that it's live or die.
The fate of Middle-earth all depends on you.
Whether you destroy it, whether Sam is true.
All life is in your hands so you must make it through your quest.
Cast it into the fire! Put everyone at rest.

Fëanor's Death
Mortally wounded, he bade his sons to halt.
Thrice he cursed Morgoth for it was all his fault.
"Hold you oath, avenge me, my sons," said Fëanor
As his body turned to ashes, and life left the Noldor.
Borne away by the wind he faded like smoke.
He entered the Halls of Mandos, freed of life's yoke.
Never again on Arda did his likeness appear.
But renowned he is for fighting without fear
Against the Balrogs, surrounded, where he would have fell.
If not for his son's aid or so they do tell.
Fëanor's fiery spirit did at last go in wrath
As he died upon the upward path.

Friends in Anguish
Oh Frodo you are troubled
With the burden that you bear.
You hurt inside. You tremble
Because of that ring you wear.

Yet even in your anguish
You continue on your quest.
Your put your strength, all your hope
Through this treacherous test.

Oh Sam, for your master,
You keep your spirits so high.
You only want to help him.
Even without hope you try.

You carry him. You struggle.
You'll make it in the end.
You'll both destroy the evil
Cause you'll never leave your friend.

Frodo, Ringbearer
To bear a ring you are alone.
You travel far away from home.
You do things you would never do,
And in the end the place you knew
Is not the same you don't fit in,
So you sail away with Elven kin.

Galadriel
Galadriel, Galadriel,
With her Golden hair.
Galadriel, Galadriel,
A lady truly fair.
Galadriel, Galadriel,
Of Lorien is she.
Galadriel, Galadriel,
Your thoughts he mind can see.

Gandalf the White
Gandalf the grey with a long grey beard
made great fire works, only Sauron he feared.
He helped bear a great burden, helped show Frodo the way.
He led the Fellowship through Moria so they could see the day.
He battled the Balrog and finally won.
His time as "the grey" was finally done.
He strayed out of thought and he strayed out of mind.
Then he returned, of a new kind.
He no longer was grey. He was a great sight.
Now he was known as Gandalf the white.

Gimli and Elves
You'd be dead before you saw the ring in the hands of an elf
And yet you couldn't bear that burden your own self.
You weild a mighty axe and use it well.
But how well you use it, no Orc will tell.
You kill them with a swing you've already gotten seven.
But Legolas, with bow, beats you by eleven.
Though you didn't like elves now one's your best friend.
You look out for each other and your frienship won't bend.

Grima
Lying Grima, you filthy thing,
Why do you help Saruamn take the ring?
You could do so much for the people of Rohan.
Instead you help evil, instead you help Saruman.

Haldir's Passing
An alliance once existed between Elves and Men.
That was long ago, they fought together, then.
But on this day, as we fight at Helm's Deep,
As woman and children, for their families, weep.
We will honor that allegiance and fight, side by side.
It was in this battle, Haldir fell and died.

If there was no LotR
Imagine if Tolkien was gone,
Before he had written his books,
Everything would be so wrong,
No one could say I had Arwen's looks.

People would not say "my precious."
Whenever they saw a gold ring
"LotR fans" no one would call us,
Because there would be no such thing.

We wouldn't pretend we had Elf ears,
Or even hobbit feet.
We couldn't say Frodo brought us tears
When he left and smiled so sweet.

Imagine if there was no Legolas,
The fan girls would not even exist.
Of course to me that would be no loss.
Sorry about that, I couldn't resist.

I couldn't call my self FRODOFAN.
I couldn't wear my gold ring.
I couldn't call my best friend, Sam.
Oh, could you imagine such a thing?

I know I couldn't cause I love every movie
And of course all Tolkien's Tales.
I don't think it could ever be,
I'm sure there would be many wails.

Legolas with your mighty bow
Legolas with your mighty bow,
Your sharpness and quickness your arrows show.
You can shoot two arrows in your one bow.
You're even so light you can walk on the snow.
Legolas with your mighty bow,
What you can't do I really don't know.

Melkor and Ungoliant
To the dark region of Avathar, Melkor came
to speak with Ungoliant, the very same.
Avathar in a spider has taken shape.
She was starving in this dark, lightless, drape.
Melkor said that he'd give her what she did demand
So she climbed up Hyarmentir and looked down at the land.
She weavedtogether a ladder of web rope.
Melkor followed her up, looked over field and slope.
Over the fields they came upon the green mound.
She sucked up the trees sap and belched a foul sound.
Then hideous vapors did come from her beak
And she swelled up disgusting, terrible, dark, and bleak.
Their deeds left a darkness upon Valinor
As a chill from the east blew shadows on the shore.
By the cloud of Ungoliant the Valar were dismayed.
Melkor and Ungoliant has gone, their vengeance paid.

The Narsil
The sword that was broken has been remade.
The sword that cut Sauron's finger, the broken blade.
The sword has been forged for a worthy King.
The sword, for Aragorn, of the fellowship of the ring.

NEW> No Loyal Friend <NEW
I never cried though I was grieved
To find you'd lied and you deceived,
But let it slide and make believed
It was alright yet then perceived
That you had lied again despite my love for you...
Love is no more!

I let you in.
Don't ever say
I bear your sin.
You walked away.

And then you cried. I wasn't grieved
To find you sighed for you decieved.
You ought to hide, not be relieved.
I am not weak as you conceived
For you lied yet again despite my love for you...
Now Love's no more!

When you walked out
I locked the door.
Be free from doubt;
Love is no more!

Jan 7 '08

Notes: My inspiration was, "In the end I'll be what I will be. No loyal friend was ever there for me." "Love is no more!" is taken directly from the song "Gollum's song" which of course made up most of the inspiration.

Samwise the Brave
Samwise Gamgee is a true friend.
He stuck with Frodo until the end.
He carried a burden so hard to bear,
Staying by Frodo's side with loyal care.
Samwise the brave, should be his name.
Without him nothing would be the same.

Smeagol/Gollum
He killed his friend and took it for his own.
His name is Smeagol but as Gollum he's
known.
For five hundred years it poisoned his
mind,
As he stayed in the mountains with his
find.
But one day it abandoned him and ended
up with someone else.
So, Gollum went to find his precious, he
wanted it for himself.
In the Mines of Moria he followed them
and soon became their guide.
Smeagol did not want to hurt them but
his other side....

The Story of Faramir
He was treated badly by his own father.
His very own flesh only cared for his brother.
Then Boromir died and Denethor was left
With only Faramir to put to the test.
"Think better of me father." he said with a turn.
"Depends on the manner in which you return."
Denethor said this to his own very son
As he left for a battle, which would not soon be done.
Then during this war Faramir was hurt.
This made Denethor feel as low as the dirt.
Then Denethor passed, set himself on fire.
Then Faramir found his one true desire.
He took the lady Eowyn for his wife.
He was no longer burdened with sadness and strife

Strider
"Around here he's known as Strider."
One of them rangers, a black rider?
We have no choice but to trust him, says
he' s a friend of Gandalf the grey.
We don't know if he's lying but he shows
us the way.
Were going to see the elves, to Rivendell
says he.
At nights he sings of Lúthien, a fair
maiden elf was she.
So, many things he hides from us, we
don't even know his name.
Some say he's the King of Gondor and to
that he'll make his claim.

Theoden King
Theoden King please do not mourn,
though death has taken your only son born.
You must protect your people, you must protect Rohan.
Because if you don't, nobody else can.
Bring them to Helm's Deep, fight and be brave.
We'll all know for your country all your strength you gave.

To Ashes
My eldest has passed.
My second has perished.
I've lost all I hold dear
And all that I cherished.

The darkness is coming.
My kingdom won't hold.
The sword is still broken
Of the tales of old.

In the halls of the kings
I shall come to sleep.
Pour the oil on me
As I stand here and weep.

I shall burn to ashes
Lying by my son.
I will come to rest.
My troubles will be done.

To the Havens
The Elves take their ships, it's the end of their day.
Across to the Havens they sail away.
The white gulls call them and so they must go.
Across all the waters on the wind's blow.
The Elves now leave Middle-earth to it's fate.
Across the sea the Gray Haven awaits.

A Wizard's Pupil
A wizard's pupil, he does what he finds right.
He fights the darkness and tries to find light.
To earn his father's love he is wounded.
He is saved from the fire, but his father is soon dead.
When all is dark and hope seems gone,
Out of the shadows a light is born.
